Issue

  • Broadcom bnxt_en network device name adds np0 after update from RHEL 8.2 to RHEL 8.3 and/or RHEL 8.4
  • Inconsistent network naming on BCM57416 NetXtreme-E, NIC is named enp129s0f0 on 8.2 and enp129s0f0np0 on 8.3 and 8.4

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 (kernel-4.18.0-305.el8)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.3 (kernel-4.18.0-240.el8)
  • Broadcom NetXtreme-E 10 Gbps RDMA NIC in Ethernet mode using bnxt_en driver
