Kibana complain about 'The indices which match this index pattern don't contain any time fields.' when try to read rsyslog from elasticsearch

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After the configuration of rsyslog on Red Hat Openstack Platform 16.1 to send the log to elasticsearch server the indexes seems created in the right way.
  • But when configure Kibana to use them (creating an index pattern) you can get the message 'The indices which match this index pattern don't contain any time fields.'
  • Also, Grafana configuring the Elasticsearch datasource give a similar message: 'No date field named @timestamp found'.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.1 (RHOSP16.1)
  • Rsyslog on RHOSP16
  • Elasticsearch
  • Kibana
  • Grafana
