Not able to join Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory with the error "Failed to join domain: Improperly formed account name" or "NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME"
Issue
- When trying to have a RHEL machine join a Windows 2008 R2 domain, it errors with the following:
> kinit succeeded but ads\_sasl\_spnego\_krb5\_bind failed: Server not found in Kerberos database
> Failed to join domain: Improperly formed account name
> ADS join did not work, falling back to RPC...
> [2011/08/19 20:53:05, 0] utils/net\_rpc\_join.c:net\_rpc\_join_newstyle(367)
> Error in domain join verification (credential setup failed): NT\_STATUS\_INVALID\_COMPUTER\_NAME
>
> Unable to join domain EXAMPLEMIKU
