Control-plane/compute node fails to boot with xfs filesystem error in OCP 4

Issue

  • Installed Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.x cluster in which one of the control-planes fail to boot due to the error below.

    [   10.998095] localhost kernel: XFS (sda4): Corruption of in-memory data detected.  Shutting down filesystem
    [   11.002414] localhost kernel: XFS (sda4): Please unmount the filesystem and rectify the problem(s)
    [   11.027603] localhost kernel: XFS (sda4): log mount/recovery failed: error -117
    [   11.030568] localhost kernel: XFS (sda4): log mount failed
    
  • A compute node across reboots lands up into xfs corruption with the same logs as above.
