The DNS resolution on Red Hat 3scale 2.X On-premises is behaving slow when calling other pods within the same namespace

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We are receiving slow response time (10-20 seconds) from an application running through Red Hat 3scale API Management on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP). Upon further examination of tcpdumps captured across the whole platform, it appears there are DNS level queries to resolve internal OCP pods - such as the connection between APIcast and backend-listener - that are being sent to external DNS instead of being resolved locally by OCP.
