Why vmware guest does not show AVX2 flag even when cpu model has AVX2 capabilities.
Issue
- We tried to enable avx2 by enabling hardware virtualization, still avx flag is only set and avx2 is not set.
- Specific CPU feature avx2 is not present in lscpu output even though the host CPU model supports this feature.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8, 9
- VMWare hypervisor
