Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Any change to RHCOS through MCO auto-triggers nodes reboot in OCP4.
  • Node reboot is so quick that the second node pods are evicted even before 1st node evicted pods are ready on other nodes. In the case of 2 pods applications, this caused downtime.

Environment

  • Red Hat Openshift Container Platform (RHOCP) 4.x
