samba-winbind lookup_usergroups_member : out of memory error

Issue

  • We are using winbind to use AD authentication on a linux cluster. The cluster is using RHEL 5.6 upgraded from RHEL 5.3. The current winbind version on the cluster is samba3x-winbind-3.5.4-0.70.el5_6.1. Recently, we found that the following errors in Samba logs.

  could not pull first usnChanged!
[2011/08/01 12:04:36.895758,  1] winbindd/winbindd_ads.c:728(lookup_usergroups_memberof)
  lookup_usergroups_memberof ads_search member=CN=xxx.yyy,OU=Faculty-Staff,OU=Email,DC=marqnet,DC=mu,DC=edu: Out of memory

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
  • Samba3x-winbind-3.5.4-0.70.el5_6.1
