How to rotate the console text for non-standard monitor orientation on UEFI-based machines

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • During boot-up on an EFI based system with non standard monitor orientation ( ex. Portrait Mode ) making it difficult to read the boot messages during troubleshooting.

  • A non-standard monitor orientation is making the main console difficult to use. Facilitating the need to rotate the text output for my display 90/180/270 degrees.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • System boots via UEFI
