CUPS may not always start if sssd is in use
Issue
Using sssd with sssd-ad, we run CUPS on our server. The SystemGroup directive lists two active directory-based groups. When the system is started, and systemd just so happens to randomly choose to start CUPS before sssd, then CUPS will fail when it validates the SystemGroup directive, as the groups listed will appear to be invalid.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 and 8
- Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3 and 2.2.6
