Lexmark printers may not work after upgrading to RHEL 7.7 or later versions of RHEL 7

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We recently patched production servers to RHEL 7.6 to RHEL 7.8; after patching, we are not able to print anything from the client location.
  • Text files may not print to Lexmark printers in RHEL 7.7 and later versions.
  • When a user attempts to print a text file, Lexmark printer will spin up like it is about to print but nothing ever comes out.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.7 or later
  • ghostscript-9.25-5.el7.x86_64
  • Lexmark MS710 Series and X264dn printers
