Can I use transparent filesystem compression in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Issue
-
I'd like to implement transparent compression on ext3 partition. I read about "Support for transparent compression is available as an unofficial patch for ext3. This patch is a direct port of e2compr and still needs further development, it compiles and boots well with upstream kernels but journaling is not implemented yet. The current patch is named e3compr"

Other than e2compr or e3compr are there any other solutions for transparent filesystem compression? Do you suggest any FS which supports transparent compression naturally?
