zone transfer to Microsoft DNS is failing

Issue

• dig command for zone transfer to Microsoft DNS is failing in between:

$ dig  @dns_server domain.com axfr

Part way though the command fails with:
hostname1.domain.com. 1200 IN   A   10.12.16.43
hostname2.domain.com. 3600 IN   A   10.12.232.72
hostname3.domain.com. 1200 IN   A   10.12.16.41
;; Got bad packet: extra input data
16338 bytes

• Not able to transfer zones to Microsoft DNS using dig command.
