Unable to create index pattern after updating to OpenShift Container Platform 4.5 - Cluster Logging

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When a user tries to use kibana the first time to view the logs of one of his pods, he is enforced to create index patterns. But he cannot, because kibana doesn't display any index, just saying: Couldn't find any Elasticsearch data.
  • Users who are granted access to projects using groups, are unable to create index pattern upon first login in kibana after updating logging to 4.5. The error reported by kibana is Couldn't find any Elasticsearch data. In the Browser console we can see 504 Gateway Timeout reported.
  • Index pattern creation is failing after updating logging to version 4.5.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) 4.5 and 4.6
  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform - Cluster Logging 4.5 and 4.6
