HTTP response header is limited to 8192 bytes through mod_proxy_http

Solution Verified - Updated -


  • When proxying through mod_proxy_http or via mod_cluster over http, we see response headers are truncated to 8192 bytes. The following warn is issued in our logs
[proxy_http:warn] [pid 29532] (28)No space left on device: [client ::1:33668] AH10124: header size is over the limit allowed by ResponseFieldSize (8192 bytes). Bad response header:


  • JBoss Core Services (JBCS) httpd 2.4.x
    • mod_proxy_http
    • mod_cluster
