Touchpad mouse stops working with Secure Boot enabled

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • With Secure Boot enabled, the touchpad is not responsive. This is causing the boot sequence to be delayed by two minutes while systemd-udev-settle is running until it times out (about 2 minutes). Using journalctl on the udev daemon shows that an event (assuming event for the touchpad) is taking a long time and is eventually killed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3
  • Dell Latitude 7214 Rugged Extreme laptop
