cups-browsed service does not start in RHEL 7 and 8

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After updating from RHEL 7.6 to RHEL 7.7, the cups-browsed service is not starting.

  • After reboot the cups-browsed service is showing dead. We tried to restart the same; the restart command works and reports no error, but the service status shows dead. Running systemctl status cups-browsed.service returns:

    ● cups-browsed.service - Make remote CUPS printers available locally
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/cups-browsed.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
