cups-browsed service does not start in RHEL 7 and 8
Issue
-
After updating from RHEL 7.6 to RHEL 7.7, the cups-browsed service is not starting.
-
After reboot the cups-browsed service is showing dead. We tried to restart the same; the restart command works and reports no error, but the service status shows dead. Running
systemctl status cups-browsed.service
returns:● cups-browsed.service - Make remote CUPS printers available locally Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/cups-browsed.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: inactive (dead) since Mon 2021-01-25 19:00:43 UTC; 13h ago Process: 13540 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/cups-browsed -l /var/log/cups/cups-browsed.log -d (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 13540 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed: network interface at 10.1.2.3 Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed [BrowsePoll localhost:631]: IPP-Create-Subscription Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed [BrowsePoll localhost:631]: subscription ID=1985 Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed [BrowsePoll localhost:631]: cupsGetDests Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed: Using signal handler SIGACTION Jan 25 19:00:43 ksql0030 cups-browsed[13540]: cups-browsed: nothing left to do
