Reloading firewall-cmd fails due to libjansson.so.4 not found.

Issue

When trying to reload firewalld the below error is met:

    firewall-cmd --reload
    Error: COMMAND_FAILED: '/usr/sbin/nft add table inet firewalld_policy_drop' failed: 
    /usr/sbin/nft: error while loading shared libraries: libjansson.so.4: cannot open shared 
    object file: No such file or directory

Environment

  • RHEL 8
    • firewalld back end: nftables
  • RHEL 7
    • firewalld back end: nftables
