RHEL8: Files created over NFSv3 on EMC Data Domain fail with EIO

Issue

  • Files and directories created on an EMC Data Domain NFS server fail with Input/output errorusing NFSv3 on RHEL8 NFS clients.
  • However, the files show as created on the NFS server despite the EIOerror.
  • Files can be created with no issue using NFSv4.
  • RHEL7 reports no issues using NFSv3 or NFSv4.

Environment

  • NFSv3
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 or later (NFS client)
  • kernel-4.18.0-193.el8 and later
  • NFS server with a 64-byte length filehandles
    • EMC Data Domain (NFS server)
    • version: 6.2.0.5-608869.
    • version: 7.1.0.20
    • version: 7.1.0.40
