Getting error "AMD-Vi: Failed to allocate IRTE" when gen4 NVMe attached

Issue

  • Getting below message when NVMe drives support 256 IO queues and 1 admin queue and when the system has 256 CPUs.
#dmesg | grep -i fail
"AMD-Vi: Failed to allocate IRTE"

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0 or later
  • AMD EPYC platform with 256 core CPUs
  • Dell EMC PowerEdge Express Flash Enterprise NVMe Agnostic (AGN) device
    • Gen4 Kioxia CM6 NVMe
