Why is the be2net driver unable to initialize an Emulex OneConnect 10Gb NIC?

Issue

  • be2net driver failed to initialize an Emulex 10Gb NIC installed in the system.
  • The following error was seen in dmesg:
be2net 0000:1a:00.0: Error in cmd completion - opcode 90, compl 2, extd 30  
be2net 0000:1a:00.0: PCI INT A disabled  
be2net 0000:1a:00.0: Emulex OneConnect 10Gbps NIC initialization failed  
be2net: probe of 0000:1a:00.0 failed with error -1
  • No issues are seen when using this card with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.1
  • kernel-2.6.32-131.0.15 (be2net module version 2.103.298r)
  • Emulex OneConnect 10Gb with firmware below version 2.103.269.3002
