The mkfs.gfs2 command fails with error "More than one device specified"

Issue

  • I copy/pasted a mkfs.gfs2 command line from a .docx file, and it failed with "More than one device specified (try -h for help)".
# mkfs.gfs2 -p lock_dlm -t clustername:fsname –j 2 /dev/my_vg/my_lv

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (with the High Availability Add-on)
