Smbclient Command Fails With NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT Error

Issue

  • Running the smbclient command results in this failure:

    $ sudo smbclient -L //SMBSERVER
do_connect: Connection to SMBSERVER failed (Error NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT)
  • ( The same command may work on a system with an older version of smbclient )

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 / RHEL-9.4 with
samba-4.19.4-105.el9_4.x86_64
sssd-2.9.4-6.el9_4.1.x86_64
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 / RHEL-7.5 with
samba-client-4.9.1-10.el7_7.x86_64.

(But likely applicable to other RHEL 7 minor and samba-client package versions.)
