Red Hat 3scale 2.X Containers are failing with the error "failed to send CNI request: Post http://dummy/: dial unix /var/run/openshift-sdn/cni-server.sock: connect: connection refused, failed to clean up sandbox container"

Issue

Our production 3scale, today running on Openshift has stopped working. We have the faulty system-app with a message similar to the below in the events:

FailedCreatePodSandBox   kubelet, node.name   Failed create pod sandbox: rpc error: code = Unknown desc = [failed to set up sandbox container "<ID>" network for pod "system-app-<XYZ>": NetworkPlugin cni failed to set up pod "system-app-<XYZ>" network: failed to send CNI request: Post http://dummy/: dial unix /var/run/openshift-sdn/cni-server.sock: connect: connection refused, failed to clean up sandbox container
