Pod using a hostPath volume cant not start in OpenShift 4

Issue

  • The path indicated by the hostPath can not be created on the node where the pod is scheduled and the pod can not start.
0s          Warning   Failed                           pod/httpd-example-10-dn555               Error: failed to mkdir /local/configvol: mkdir /local: operation not permitted

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)

    • 4.x

  • Red Hat CoreOS (RHCOS)
