Error while mounting filesystem: "unknown filesystem type 'XFS'"

Issue

  • Unable to mount the file system and following message logged in Syslog.
Aug 24 13:57:24 server.com mount[3368]: mount: unknown filesystem type 'XFS'
Aug 25 03:55:51 server.com systemd[1]: /mnt.mount mount process exited, code=exited status=32
Aug 25 03:55:53 server.com sshd[30532]: Failed to mount /mnt
  • Mount is failing with " unknown filesystem type 'XFS' "
# mount -av
/                        : ignored
/boot                    : already mounted
none                     : ignored
mount: /mnt: unknown filesystem type 'XFS'.        <<<<< xfs is in upper case!
