smartd can't access drives on a 3ware 9xxx card

Issue

  • smartd can't access drives on a 3ware 9xxx card
  • smartd not monitoring the 3ware 9xxx card disks.
  • SELinux is preventing smartd (fsdaemon_t) to access to device /dev/twa0. Below messages logged at every boot time
smartd: Unable to register ATA device /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_06] at line 145 of file /etc/smartd.conf
smartd: Device /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_06] not available
smartd: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_07], File exists, open() failed 
setroubleshoot: SELinux is  preventing smartd (fsdaemon_t) to access to device /dev/twa0. For complete SELinux messages. run sealert -l

  • selinux-policy-targeted-2.4.6-300
