Virtual machine hangs at the "GRUB" prompt after being migrated from Xen to RHEV using virt-v2v

Issue

Using virt-v2v to convert a Xen image to RHEV is successful, but the resulting RHEV VM stops at "GRUB" when booting.

Environment

  • XEN running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.9

    • xen-libs-3.0.3-142.el5_9.3
    • kernel-xen-2.6.18-371.1.2.el5
    • xen-libs-3.0.3-142.el5_9.3
    • xen-3.0.3-142.el5_9.3
  • virt-v2v running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4

    • virt-v2v-0.8.9-2.el6.x86_64
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) is running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4

    • version 3.1.0-55.el6ev
  • virt-v2v running on fedora 19, with the same failure.

    • virt-v2v-0.9.0-3.fc19.x86_64
