Firewalld hangs upon reboot or on restart of firewalld service

Issue

  • When I reboot, the system hangs for a long time on firewalld service shutting down
  • When I run "systemctl restart firewalld" the command hangs

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Firewalld
