Which network card type does Red Hat recommend to use for the guests running on RHEV?
Issue
- In the Administration guide there's mention of three different network card types that's possible to use with RHEV guests.
The e1000 network interface controller exposes a virtualized Intel PRO/1000 (e1000) to guests.
The virtio network interface controller exposes a para-virtualized network device to guests.
The rtl8139 network interface controller exposes a virtualized Realtek Semiconductor Corp
- How does one decide which of the three cards to choose.
- Is it that different operating systems will perform better with one over the other?
- What are Red Hat recommendations on this?
