Why is the KDE Window List plasmoid (widget) not available from the KDE Desktop on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 6?

Issue

  • The current KDE4.3 version in RHEL 6.3 has no "Windows List" plasmoid.
  • This plasmoid is needed for our users to keep track of all the applications running on multiple virtual desktops.
  • The plasmoid "Window List" is introduced again from KDE4.4 onwards and is upstream available in Fedora releases.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • KDE Desktop Environment 4.3
