The extended partition created by Anaconda does not fill up the disk and leaves the unused portion of the disk

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The extended partition created by anaconda does not fill up the disk if one of the partitions in the kickstart file uses the --grow and  --maxsize options.  Instead, the extended partition is just big enough to hold the logical volumes. This leaves the unused portion of the disk which is  unavailable for more partitions.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0
  • Anconda
