Why JBoss patches available at Customer Portal are not automaticaly available at Red Hat Satellite repository?

Issue

  • Our RHN Satellite server has the jbappplatform-5-x86_64-server-5-rpm channel imported and synchronises daily to the RHN servers to download the latest errata and packages. However, this channel does not seem to include most JBoss patches e.g the following errata are listed for the "JBoss Application Platform (v 5) for 5Server x86_64" channel on our Satellite server.

  • When browsing the Red Hat Customer Portal and selecting Downloads > JBoss Enterprise Middleware > Downloads > Product (Application Platform) > Version (5.1.0) there are many more patches available than are shown in the Satellite server channel (25 patches).

  • Why are most JBoss patches on the Customer Portal not available via RHN Satellite? We have been affected by some of the issues resolved by these patches and they are very cumbersome to deploy in the their current format as most of them are a zip file from which other files have to be copied manually to various locations in the JBoss installation directories.

  • How patching is rolled-out to JBoss channels.
