`printers.conf` may be truncated to zero length after unclean RHEL shutdown
Issue
- The CUPS configuration file
/etc/printers.conffrequently gets truncated to zero length after unclean shutdowns. - We have found that the
printers.confconfiguration file truncated after our application went down suddenly. The application has scripts to stop printing forcefully while going down and after reboot found that printers configuration file/etc/cups/printers.confis zero size. - The server rebooted. Once the server came up again, CUPS
printers.confwas empty.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
- Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
