mmapped memory write out differences between RHEL versions

Issue

  • Why is my data being written out at different times between RHEL4 and RHEL5 or RHEL6?

  • Data being written through mmapped memory isn't being written to disk in a timely manner.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • mmap, msync, and munmap syscalls.
