What is the maximum value of pid_max which can be set in RHEL4?
Issue
- What is the maximum value of pid_max which can be set in Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 4?
- Value should be high enough, but when trying to set to more than 32768, it fails with the following error:
[root@host ~]# sysctl -w kernel.pid_max=131068
error: unknown error 22 setting key 'kernel.pid_max'

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
- kernel-2.6.9-103.EL-i686
