How to add a new paper size to CUPS in RHEL

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We are unable to print on 11x17" paper in duplex and landscape mode. We tried the command below, but it still does not work:

    lp -o landscape -o sides=two-sided-long-edge -o media=Custom.11*17 -d laser17 test1
    lp -o landscape -o sides=two-sided-long-edge -o media=A4 -d laser17 test2

  • Can you please send me the procedure on how to create a custom paper size for a printer. The media/paper size must be 8.5x13 in. I need to define this size for a printer queue created in CUPS.

  • We need to configure the printers with the "Generic text-only" driver. It's working fine with the printers that work with letter paper but we can't configure a new printer that use A4 paper. We only have the option Media size : Letter. Is it possible to add the new paper size?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
