RHGS - var-run-gluster-shared_storage.mount: Failed to run 'mount' task: Too many levels of symbolic links

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

This is a RHGS 3.5 node running on RHEL 8, with the gluster volume gluster_shared_storage configured.

As expected on /etc/fstab there is an entry like this ( on below example gluster-0 is the hostname of the gluster node)

gluster-0:/gluster_shared_storage /var/run/gluster/shared_storage/ glusterfs defaults 0 0

So when booting , the system tries to mount the gluster volume gluster_shared_storage on the mount point /var/run/gluster/shared_storage/
but it fails with the following errors:

Aug 25 13:05:55 gluster-0 systemd[1]: var-run-gluster-shared_storage.mount: Mount path /var/run/gluster/shared_storage is not canonical (contains a symlink).
Aug 25 13:05:55 gluster-0 systemd[1]: var-run-gluster-shared_storage.mount: Failed to run 'mount' task: Too many levels of symbolic links
Aug 25 13:05:55 gluster-0 systemd[1]: var-run-gluster-shared_storage.mount: Failed with result 'resources'.
Aug 25 13:05:55 gluster-0 systemd[1]: Failed to mount /var/run/gluster/shared_storage.
