GlusterFS NFS vs Native in AMQ 7.x

Issue

• We are looking to get some clarification on which method of connecting GlusterFS storage is preferred.
  For AMQ 6.X, the article here seems to mention both NFS or Native, but doesn't say which is preferred.
  The AMQ 7.X, the article here gives no direction at all.

We don't run into any issues on the architecture review for the native driver, so either option should be open to us. Is there any advantage in reliability or performance between the two options?
We would like to know which solution is better from a performance and availability standpoint.
