When using 'soft' with NFS4 no EIO is returned to userspace when the NFS server is not reachable
Issue
On RHEL 6 when an NFS share is mounted from a client with the following mount options:
rw,sync,retrans=1,timeo=100,nfsvers=4
and the connectivity to the NFS server is killed EIO is never returned to the application. This works correctly when using NFSv3.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with kernel older than the 6.6 GA kernel (kernel-2.6.32-504.el6)
