Why ipv6 host routes assigned to loopback interface remains in the routing table after deleting them manually in RHEL6?
Issue
-
When we add IPv6 addresses to the loopback interface (lo), deleting them again from the host, the routes still persist, although they are unreachable.
-
Such behaviour is not seen with physical interfaces, the routes gets removed cleanly with no issues.
-
Why does this happen? Is it possible to remove such routes?
Environment
-
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4.
-
IPv6 routing.
