We've seen a case where the kernel crashed right after this message was reported in the kernel log (/var/log/kernel):
Assertion failure in journal_commit_transaction() at fs/jbd/commit.c:485: "commit_transaction->t_nr_buffers <= commit_transaction->t_outstanding_credits"
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 - 5.4
- ext3 filesystem
