SMB: Client hangs indefinitely when accessing a SMB share after account password is changed
Issue
- A SMB client hangs when accessing a soft mounted SMB share.
- The password for the account accessing the SMB share has recently changed.
- Client logs record
STATUS_ACCOUNT_LOCKED_OUT
error messages. - This behavior is observed regardless of the SMB version.
Environment
- SMB
- SMB2
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (SMB client)
- Any SMB server
- NTLM(SSP) authentication
