Unable to disable the HugePages

Issue

  • HugePages are commented #vm.nr_hugepages=16384 in /etc/sysctl.conf and rebooted the server, still /proc/meminfo shows HugePages are not disabled.
$ grep ^HugePages proc/meminfo 
HugePages_Total:   16384
HugePages_Free:    16384
HugePages_Rsvd:        0
HugePages_Surp:        0
  • Setting vm.nr_hugepages=0 in the /etc/sysctl.conf and then rebooting the server does not disable the HugePages.
