Add additional DNS search domains to Pods in OpenShift 4

Issue

An application can no longer resolve local resources after being migrated to OpenShift.

The application has been written without using fully-qualified domain names (FQDNs) when requesting access to resources. Previously it was working but now it is displaying no route to host or not resolve host.
