Cinder volume stuck in attaching state

Issue

  • After doing a resize of volumes via stack update some volumes got stuck in attaching state some volumes got stuck in available.

  • Not able to reattach the volume present in the available state and it fails with the below error:

    openstack server add volume ef50f315-xxxxxxxx-a4d0-eb7694007cd3 23101fe2-xxxxxxxxd8-1cdac2a97505
    will give response:
    Invalid volume: volume 23101fe2-xxxxxxx9d8-1cdac2a97505 already attached (HTTP 400) (Request-ID: req-xxxxx-c815-4e0e-810b-c6a0d81ece50)
    
    openstack server remove volume ef50f315-xxxxxxx-eb7694007cd3 23101fe2-d389-44bd-89d8-1cdac2a97505
    Invalid volume: Invalid input received: Invalid volume: Unable to detach volume. Volume status must be 'in-use' and attach_status must be 'attached' to detach. (HTTP 400) (Request-ID: req-10880055-6dc3-4b25-xxxx-453792f64ccc) (HTTP 400) (Request-ID: req-33a471bf-c26d-xxxx-a1a1-9b6b67463c51)
