- Experiencing a strange network issue with RHEL 6.3 when I try to add in a custom ifcfg-xxx file. When following file is created for a new interface, it kills networking across the entire host:
DEVICE=em3 BOOTPROTO=static HWADDR=AA:AA:AA:AA:AA:AA NM_CONTROLLED=no ONBOOT=yes TYPE=Ethernet IPADDR=xx.xx.xx.yy GATEWAY=yy.yy.yy.yy NETMASK=255.255.255.0
After creating this file, running
ifup em3 kills the interface on em1 (the primary interface for the system).
