Bar codes printed from PDF documents are un-scannable after upgrade to RHEL 7

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

When we print a PDF to a printer using CUPS in RHEL 6, the bar codes in the PDF could be read by bar code scanners. After upgrading to RHEL 8, the bar codes can't be read.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.6.3
  • Zebra ZPL Label Printer
  • Labels created as PDF documents
