Failed to prune image: layer not known

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

A Node in the OpenShift cluster has exceeded 100% of the storage capacity. After increasing the total free-space on the Node, it is still experiencing issues while creating containers.
The Error: failed to prune image: layer not known warning is being presented in OpenShift when attempting to perform actions involving container images.

Reviewing the Kubelet logs, the following is seen:

Warning ImageGCFailed 69s (x38 over 3h6m) kubelet, NodeName1.worker failed to get image stats: rpc error: code = Unknown desc = layer not known

Is there a way to resolve this?
