Memory usage shown in RHEV Administration Portal for a VM does not reflect memory usage of that VM as shown by the OS.
Issue
- RHEV Administration Portal is showing 23% of memory usage for a given VM. Inside the VM, the OS is showing different memory usage:
# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 490 443 47 0 22 323
-/+ buffers/cache: 97 392
Swap: 991 10 981
- As per result above, used memory corresponds to 19%, considering calculations below:
used * 100 / total
97 * 100 / 490 = 19,79
